What to do in Oviedo?

Oviedo is a beautiful town situated between the Bay of Biscay and the Cantabrian Mountains in Asturia and is also the region's capital. This typical Spanish town has cobbled streets, a lively market square and some stunning architecture. In addition, there are over 100 unique sculptures scattered amid the streets; a considerable display of free public art to find and enjoy.

In the centre of the town is an unusually large leafy urban park named Campo de San Francisco, which has lots of places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. There is a large lake with water fountains, a children's play area plus a statue of the famous comic series character Mafalda (a character initially conceived by Argentine cartoonist Qunio in the 1960s).

The Plaza del Fontan is a charming square, bordered by impressive architecture, with regular food and clothes markets plus street entertainers; the perfect spot to people watch.

Its free entry to the pleasant Museo de Bellas Artes, located in the old town, which showcases both classic and modern art. Spread across three buildings interlinked, each with three floors dedicated to different collections; well worth a visit for those interested in art and culture.

The Catedral de San Salvador de Oviedo is an imposing structure and a significant building for those walking the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage.

A 20-minute car journey out of town, and you'll find the small and wonderfully maintained Zoologico El Bosque. If you are an animal lover, then we highly recommend visiting this little zoo. The facilities are great, and the rescued animals receive exceptional care by the staff.

A short drive out of the town and you will find two examples of pre-romanesque churches; Santa María del Naranco and San Miguel de Lillo. Listed on the World Heritage site, these are some of the oldest in Spain; guided tours are available, and the views are spectacular.

At HolidayTaxis, we recognize that every traveler is different and may have their own preferences and requirements for their airport transfers. To accommodate this, we offer a diverse range of transfer vehicles for our customers to choose from, each with its own set of benefits and advantages.

For example, if you're traveling in a large group, our minibus or shared airport shuttle transfers might be the best option for you, as they can comfortably accommodate a larger number of passengers and their luggage. On the other hand, if you're traveling with just one or two companions, a private car may be more suitable for you as they offer a more intimate and personalised experience.
