Things to do

Halfway between the lively city of Antalya and the bustling holiday hotspot of Kemer lies the tranquil resort of Yaniklar. A perfect spot for quiet beach breaks, you’ll find golden sands lapped by cool, clear waters and year-round sunshine. If you can bear to tear yourself from the beach, you’ll discover lush, green forests with some unexpected historical treats; Stone Age caves and ancient cave-paintings! Those who like to get out and about can spend their Beldibi holidays hiking through the mountains, or plunge into the Mediterranean for a spot of scuba diving or snorkelling. If you’re after a memento of your holidays to Yaniklar, there are plenty of markets where you can flex your bargain-hunting muscles, or relax in one of the many restaurants and bars. For a taste of Turkey’s rich past, head to the neighbouring towns, which are full of ancient monuments and museums.

Yaniklar beach is refreshingly unspoilt. You won’t find beachside bars or clubs spilling onto the sands here. Instead, there’s plenty of peace and quiet, with enough space for everyone. However, that doesn’t mean that beach holidays to Beldibi are boring! This is a Blue Flag beach so it’s clean, safe, and has good quality bathing water. The shore shelves gently into the sea, with plenty of shallow waters for younger visitors to splash about in. For the more adventurous, there are plenty of water sports on offers, such as water skiing and banana-boating.

Although most people take their holidays to Yaniklar for the glorious, golden beaches, there’s plenty to see and do, even if you’ve got little ones with you. In nearby Antalya, you’ll find the Aqua Park, full of water rides, slides, thrills and spills. If it’s the history you’re after, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice! The town’s Stone Age history is evident in its ancient caves and the ruins of the city of Phaselis.

Top attractions

Beldibi Cave is one of the area’s most popular attractions and something of an adventure in itself! Once home to Stone Age settlers, it’s still littered with remnants from Turkey’s prehistoric past, such as primitive tools and dynamic wall paintings. While it’s possible to get there and explore on foot, to see the caves at their best, take a boat trip and delve deep into the underground catacombs and see the incredible rock formations.

After a long day in the sun, take a stroll along the mall on the side of the Taurus Mountains where you’ll find a selection of boutiques and restaurants, and the opportunity to enjoy the stunning views offered by Goynuk Canyon. Feeling active? Then lace up your boots and hike up the green mountains, scented by orange and lemon groves. The mountainous views at Göynük Canyon are difficult not to fall in love with. The canyon is in the centre of the awe-inspiring Taurus Mountain Range; a must-see for people looking for some great holiday snaps. To complete the great views you’ll find peaceful natural pools, roaring waterfalls, pine forests and a range of local wildlife.

You can be as active or relaxed as you’d like to be on your day out here, with the opportunity to lie back in a relaxing spring pool or try some canoeing or zip-lining; the choice is yours.

Best restaurants

This region is still relatively untouched by tourism so you can expect to enjoy plenty of authentic Turkish cuisine on your holiday. The harbour lands plenty of fresh fish, which is served up in local restaurants, simply grilled or fried, with subtle seasoning: the sea bream is something of a speciality and a delight for lovers of seafood. Alternatively, try a proper, herby kofta kebab, served with handmade flatbread. The restaurants on the main road of Atatürk Caddesi are where the locals go for a special night out. While they’re more expensive than the regular eateries, this is a chance to sample Turkish fine dining at its best. Don’t forget to try meze: a range of small dishes, allowing you to taste a bit of everything you want, and enjoy a glass or two of traditional Turkish wine.
